The Brian Jordan Reading Challenge
The Brian Jordan Reading Challenge exists with the aim of improving student achievement and literacy
by challenging and inspiring ALL 3rd in the Douglas County School to READ.
THE READING CHALLENGE
Each and every 3rd grader in the Douglas County School System is challenged by the one and only Brian Jordan to establish individualized reading goals and to track their progress.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
Throughout the school year Brian Jordan will visit students in person and virtually to congratulate and award goal achievements, introduce and read portions of his books before they are distributed to students and most importantly, encourage literacy. The Brian Jordan Foundation is outfitting EVERY 3rd grade class with a collection of 50 Accelerated Reading (A.R.) books ranging in levels from 2.5-3.6.

WHY YOUR SCHOOL SHOULD JOIN THE READING SQUAD?
READING EXPERIENCE
By participating in the Reading Challenge, third graders will receive many reading incentives, including the opportunity to read three books writing by Brian Jordan. Students will also receive a 'sports card' tracker to track their progress through the reading experience.
READING REWARDS
Students and schools will be rewarded for conquering their reading goals with prizes such as, special treats at lunch, a movie in the media center and Braves paraphernalia!
